Scott practiced family law in Vancouver, Washington for over 40 years. He is a past member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and was its first co-recipient of the
Award. He was an adjunct professor of community property law at Willamette Law School and Law of Lewis and Clark College—and has written materials for and spoken at numerous continuing legal education programs. He is a past chair of the Washington State Bar Association Family Law Executive Committee and a recipient of that Section's

He also co-founded and is a board member of the Hudson’s Bay High School Foundation. In 2004 Scott was named Clark County Washington’s First Citizen. For fun, Scott enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, exercising, gardening, woodworking and working on stained glass.
